Ginger Allen

Ginger has covered North Texas news since 1999 as a general assignment reporter, investigator and anchor. Her work has led to several highly regarded segments.

Following her reports about the potential dangers of overheating lithium ion batteries, computer makers around the world recalled more than 10 million batteries used in laptop computers. Ginger raised federal eyebrows after uncovering loopholes in the visa system that allowed terrorists into the U.S. The Texas Attorney General shut down a Park Cities Parole company, run by an ex-con and a lawyer, after Ginger's report uncovered more than a dozen women claiming the company had ripped them off. Ginger has also exposed the sale of ephedrine to minors in the DFW. She's investigated allegations of hundreds of infections caused by potentially contaminated sutures manufactured by a Johnson & Johnson company. And she has called the FDA to task for allowing thousands of unapproved drugs on the market without approval.

Ginger's investigative reporting has earned her the Texas Gavel Award, the Stephen Philbin Award, and a Katie Award for Best Investigative Reporting. She has also received many Emmy nominations for Investigative Reporting, Outstanding General Report, and Specialty Reporting. She was recognized by the Associated Press for Live Reporting, and she received a California Department of Health Services Award.

Before coming to Dallas, Ginger worked as a lead reporter for WLWT-TV in Cincinnati. She traveled with NBC News Channel covering major stories for NBC affiliates all over the country. She was an anchor/reporter at KBAK-TV and anchor/co-host for KERN talk radio in Bakersfield, California. She reported at KMIR-TV in Palm Springs. Ginger began her career at KCBS-TV in Los Angeles as a researcher.

She grew up in Southern California and graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a degree in Mass Communications and an emphasis on Media.

Ginger proudly participates in a variety of charities... Love for Children, Buzz Free PROMises, Red Ribbon Rally, and the Autism Treatment Center.

Ginger and her husband, Scott, have two children.
