Jay Gormley

Jay Gormley is an award-winning journalist who has been covering news since 1989. Since joining CBS 11, Jay has reported on some of the more memorable stories in recent history.

His work has garnered him two Emmys and three Edward R. Murrow Awards. Jay also hasĀ been recognized by the Associated Press and the Press Club of Dallas for "Excellence in Journalism."

He spent two weeks along the Gulf Coast covering Katrina and the storm's aftermath. Jay also reported from New York City following the Sept. 11 attacks and was in Colorado hours after the Columbine shootings. Two years later, he returned to Colorado to report on the capture of the "Texas 7" after they escaped from prison. Jay has traveled the world including a trip to Turkey to cover the 1999 earthquake that tragically took the lives of 20,000 people.

When he's not reporting for CBS 11, he enjoys writing and directing independent films. Jay's short films have been screened at numerous film festivals around the country.
