Steve Mauldin
President & General Manager
Steve Mauldin is President and General Manager of CBS Television Stations' Dallas/Fort Worth duopoly -- KTVT-TV (CBS 11) and KTXA-TV (TXA 21) -- a position he's held since February 2003.
Steve's distinguished career in broadcasting spans more than 20 years. He came to Dallas from Miami where, in September 1998, he was named Vice President/General Manager of CBS station WFOR-TV. In May 2001, Steve also was named Vice President/General Manager of then-UPN stations WBFS-TV (Miami) and WTVX-TV (West Palm Beach), one of the few triopolies in the United States at the time. Under Steve's guidance, the WFOR late news went from fifth to first place in the market in just two years.
Prior to WFOR, Steve served as President/General Manager of WTSP-TV, the CBS affiliate in Tampa, a position he held since 1991. Before arriving in Tampa, he was Vice President/General Manager of Gaylord Broadcasting Company's KHTV in Houston from 1989 to 1991. Prior to that appointment, Steve was Vice President and Station Manager of Gaylord's KTVT in Dallas from 1987 to1989. From 1985 to 1987, he was Vice President/General Manager of WVUE, New Orleans, also a Gaylord property.
Steve's television career began as an account executive at KOSA-TV in Odessa, Texas. He went on to work in sales and sales management in Las Vegas and was later hired by KABC-TV and ABC Spot Sales in Los Angeles.
Steve's professional awards and honors include the American Women in Radio and Television's National Commendation Award (1994) for his efforts on behalf of the advancement of women in broadcasting. In addition, under his leadership, WTSP was awarded the prestigious National Station of the Year Award. Steve is also the recipient of two Emmy Awards, three Associated Press Awards, and the prestigious New York Film Festival Gold award, all for editorial commentary.
A native of Odessa, Texas, Steve attended Baylor University on a baseball scholarship. He is the proud father of four children: Michael, Christopher, Jeffrey, and Stephanie. Steve is a cancer survivor and is actively involved in fundraising for the American Cancer Society. He is also dedicated to building awareness of autism, as his daughter, Stephanie, has autism. Steve's commitment to this cause inspired him to create a series of annual events -- named for Stephanie -- to assist special needs children in both the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale and Dallas/Fort Worth areas. These "Stephanie's Day" events are designed to bring special needs children and their families together with numerous non-profit organizations which can provide the specialized services those families need.
