Police Look For 2 After Armed ATM Robbery
Two Of 4 Already In Custody After Seagoville Heist
(CBS 11 News)
Police captured two of four suspected ATM thieves from Seagoville. The men led police on a chase that ended near Jim Miller and Bruton roads in Dallas. Police have locked down a Pleasant Grove neighborhood in search of the other two.
Police were able to capture the second person in the area of Jim Miller Road. The Pleasant Grove neighborhood was under lock down as authorities searched for the group.
About 2 a.m. Friday, a Seagoville convenience store clerk said three masked men dressed in black drove through the OneStop store on Hall Street and Highway 175.
The female clerk said she ran to the back when she heard the crashing sound and then was confronted by one of them who threatened her with a gun for about 10 minutes while the others loaded the machine in their vehicle.
The men drove away with the ATM and shortly after that, police followed. That pursuit turned into a chase, which ended in Dallas.
According to reports, one of the alleged robbers fired a gun and struck an off duty officer's vehicle.
The officer said he was following the suspects before the chase began and had spotted them off Highway 175 and Hall Road as they were pulling out of the parking lot with the ATM in the back of their vehicle.
The group pulled over and fired multiple rounds at the car striking the off duty officer's car one time. The officer did not return fire.
The chase lasted several minutes, going through Seagoville, Pleasant Grove and finally Gateway Park.
Police searched for about six hours in a wooden area, adjacent golf course and the neighborhood because they believe the group is still armed and dangerous.
