Remaining 4 Settle Civil Cases In BP Blast Suits

HOUSTON (AP) ― Attorneys say the four plaintiffs who remained in the latest civil trial resulting from the deadly 2005 explosion at a BP PLC refinery near Houston have settled their cases.

The terms of the settlements, announced on Tuesday, were confidential.

The plaintiffs were employed by various independent contractors who worked in and around the Texas City refinery located about 40 miles southeast of Houston. The blast there killed 15 people and injured more than 170.

Attorneys for the injured workers say the settlements were reached Monday night, nine weeks into the trial in Galveston.
