Dallas Student Accuses School Guard Of Assault
DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
A high school student in Dallas said that she was assaulted by a campus security guard. Her mom claims to have witnessed the entire ordeal. The mother and daughter told their story to CBS 11 News on Thursday.
Chrisha Johnson and her mother said that the girl got into a verbal disagreement with a school youth action officer. The officer then allegedly grabbed and choked the 16-year-old, and tried to cuff her hands.
"He had my hand all behind my back, or whatever, and he choked me. He tried to put me to sleep, but I was fighting," explained Johnson. "He grabbed me. I got bruises and everything."
The alleged assault happened at Spruce High School. Nobody at the school is denying that the incident took place. School officials confirmed that an investigation is underway.
The officer has not been charged with any offense.
Several questions now remain to be answered. Was Johnson under arrest? Did she commit a crime? Did the officer really put a choke hold on the teen. Most importantly, why did it happen?
The mother and daughter said that the officer intended to hurt the teenager.
Police denied CBS 11 News access to the school on Thursday. The school's principal declined to comment.
Meanwhile, Johnson is using an icepack, given to her by paramedics, to help the swelling on her face.
