Trustees Call For Vote Of Confidence On Hinojosa
Dallas School Chief Michael Hinojosa may soon be facing a confidence vote from the very people who hired him.
Three Dallas ISD trustees have asked for a special meeting that could play a significant role in Hinojosa's future.
The trustees are not calling for his resignation, but the three want to gauge the amount of support, or lack of it, that there exists for the superintendent.
Trustee Ron Price is leading the way to request the special board meeting for next week.
The meeting could result in a board vote of confident support in Hinojosa's ability to lead the district.
Hinojosa is under fire after announcing financial miscalculations that put the district in a multi-million dollar budget shortfall. More than 600 district employees, including teachers, were laid off to balance the budget.
The fiscal embarrassment has put pressure on Hinojosa, and now some trustees want a public accounting of how the school board views Hinojosa's performance.
Information on the meeting has not yet been posted.
