Legacy High Student Tests Positive For TB
MANSFIELD (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
Students who came in close contact with a Mansfield student who tested positive for tuberculosis will be screened by the Tarrant County Public Health Department.
Legacy High School families learned of the TB case via a district letter sent to them.
The letter explained the health department contacted Mansfield ISD. The agencies will work together to help identify potential contacts and provide the appropriate screening and care.
Health officials stress that since significant exposure to TB is required in order to develop an infection, only students who had close contact with the student will be screened by the Health Department.
These students have been identified and received separate notification along with a parental permission form for screening, district officials added.
"The health and safety of our students is a top priority and we are doing everything possible to address the situation in cooperation with the Health Department," MISD posted on its Website.
Anyone with more questions should contact the TCPHD at 817-321-4900.
