Police Say Armed Robberies Near TCU, Hulen Linked

FORT WORTH (CBS 11 News) ―

Held at gunpoint and robbed of their cash - Fort Worth police say a string of recent robberies could be linked to one woman, who's targeting victims in the Texas Christian University area.

It appears crime is moving into what has traditionally been a quiet area of Fort Worth. "There's a fair amount of well-to-do people here.  Maybe they're bigger targets," resident Stan Venezia rationalized

The suspect targeted her latest victim in the parking lot of a busy shopping center on South Hulen, Tuesday night.

CBS 11 News was told that the female suspect was armed with a gun when she trolled for targets in the South Hulen parking lot.  She then demanded cash from her victims, who had just left a Charleston's Restaurant, and then took off with the help of an accomplice, who drove the getaway car.

On October 31, police say an elderly man was robbed outside his house just a few blocks from the TCU campus. The elderly man said a woman walked into his garage and attacked him before making off with $50.

"TCU and Pascal is just up the street," resident Dean Henderson said.  "I was hoping the community was improving."

On November 2, a man was robbed, at gunpoint, in a Tom Thumb parking lot in the 3100 block of South Hulen. In that case, the woman also took his wallet.

The recent robberies are prompting those who live in the area to exercise caution.  "Just have to keep our eyes open and hope we can catch them," Venezia said.

CBS 11 News spoke to the victim of Tuesday's crime - she tells us it was an unnerving experience.
