New District Stands Behind Lang's Ex-Principal
DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
It's still not clear what happened with the TAKS at Dallas' Lang Middle School last spring, where
"testing irregularities" were found with the eighth grade math test. And now, it's unclear if the school's former principal has cooperated with the investigation.
As we reported, on Tuesday the DISD sent the results of its investigation into the cheating at Lang to the Texas Education Agency.
In a news release, the district said Tuesday that the school's former principal, Robert Peters, had not responded to the DISD's requests for help with the investigation. And DISD Superintendent Michael Hinojosa said, "The people that were most responsible for this are no longer with the district. And initially we had cooperation from them and then as the investigation continued they no longer communicated with us."
Hinojosa was talking about Peters and Lang's former testing coordinator. Both quit their jobs at the end of last year.
Peters went to work for the Manor ISD, which is near Austin. Today, the MISD said Peters has cooperated with the DISD's investigation.
In a news release, the Manor ISD said it "has learned that an inquiry has been made by the former school district of Principal Robert Peters regarding data integrity." The statement goes on to say that "Mr. Peters has cooperated fully with his former district."
But that directly contradicts what Hinojosa said Tuesday, and also what the DISD said in its Tuesday press release.
