N. Texas Parents Say Shot Glass Handed Out At Prom

Sana Syed
NEVADA, Texas (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― Some parents from a small town north of Rockwall want to know why their son was given a shot glass as a party favor from his school last weekend.

Joe and Christina bailey's son Aaron is graduating in two weeks from Community High School in Nevada, just north of Rockwall. They said their son came home sober at three the next morning, but they were not happy to see the shot glass with him.

Aaron Bailey said he was confused by the glasses, considering some freshman and sophomores were also at prom. Every student was given a bag full of confetti, a shot glass with the high school's name on it and a pen. Some students told us they joked about it and did not think much of it.

The superintendent did not want to talk to us on camera, but told us the gift was meant to be a memory glass. One student said several students used the glasses to get drunk that night.

The Baileys say they do not want anything from the school. They just want the alcohol glass tradition to end with this year's seniors.
