Students Nervous After Facebook 'Death List' Found

Melissa Newton
KELLER (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― A threatening list found on a North Texas teen's Facebook page is causing concern among students and parents in Keller.

The "To Die" list, as it is being called, contained about 40 names of students, teachers and other adults at Central High School in Keller, where the teen attended.

"Other students were able to access it, they brought it to school, and it became a school issue." said Principal David Hinson. "It contained names on it that he had basically threatened on his Facebook page."

The student who made the list has been disciplined according to the district's code of conduct policy, and has been placed in alternative education.

Word of this list is now spreading around the campus.  "It's a little messed up," said senior Eli Neilson.

"I think it's scary and kind of stupid," adds junior Kortney Mckinistry.

Mckinstry's friend saw the list.  "Some kid had written murder and kill and stuff for like 12 pages, and a bunch of people's names." she said.

"To go as far as to write a list as to who you're going to kill, and even to put it on Facebook, might just be going too far with the anger," Neilson said.

"If my name was on that list, I don't even know if it was or not, but I would be scared," said sophomore Sheldon Pack.

School officials have notified the parents of all the students named.

"Safety and security, especially in this day and age is important," Hinson said, "and so we don't want to take anything for granted or leave anything unchecked."

While the district stresses there was never a threat against the school, some parents are still a little on edge.

"I really think they need to take this into consideration and get him out of the district," said Linda Hicks, whose daughter is a senior at Central.

Fort Worth Police are investigating this case, but at this time, it is unlikely the teen will face criminal charges for making a terroristic threat.
