170+ Texas Troops Get Free Flight Home
Southwest Airlines Sends Fort Bragg National Guard Soldiers Back To Texas Before Deployment
Some Texas troops in North Carolina whose deployment to Afghanistan has been delayed -- will get free flights home for the holidays.
Southwest Airlines today announced it will fly more than 170 Texas Army National Guard soldiers from Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
The soldiers will be arriving in Dallas, Austin and San Antonio on Sunday. They're members of the 436th Chemical Company.
Relatives of the troops had been trying to raise money so their loved ones could fly home -- but they came up short to fund the whole group.
Guard officials said the arrangements had to be that every soldier was able to get back to Texas.
Airline president Colleen Barrett says Southwest is happy to be able to grant this Christmas wish for the troops to reunite with their families.
