Parking Controversy At DFW Airport
DFW International Airport (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
CBS 11 News has received dozens of e-mails over the past few days about a potential parking problem at DFW International Airport.
Customers of a valet parking company claim airport officials are forcing one company out of business.
But airport officials tell us no service is going away. In fact, another valet operation is being added, and that has drawn some questions. Valet service at DFW Airport costs about $20 per day. The services will meet you at the terminal. Some business travelers find it their best bet.
Freedom Park is the longest running valet operation at DFW. But the company's operators say their freedom to provide the service is being compromised. They have a new competitor coming to town.
It's the same people they pay for the privilege of doing business at the airport. DFW itself is getting into the valet service business. At the same time, it charges Freedom Park an 8 percent fee on all revenue earned.
With more than ten thousand people a week using three already-established valet services, why would the airport start up its own? Capitalism and competition also fly high at the airport.
