Dallas Love Field #1 In Airport Satisfaction Study
NORTH TEXAS (CBS 11 News) ―
Good news for some North Texas airports as J.D. Power and Associates releases their 2008 North America Airport Satisfaction Study.
The best news came for Dallas Love Field Airport. Love Field
was rated highest by travelers of any North American airport. Love Field received 'among the best' or perfect ratings in almost every category including – airport accessibility, terminal facilities and baggage claim.
In 2007 Love Field came in second in the airport satisfaction survey.
The satisfaction study comes at a time
when the
air travel industry has been laden with flight delays and cancellations caused by weather, air traffic issues and staff and service cutbacks.
"Those airports that are best equipped to handle delayed passengers with comfortable seating, a variety of food and beverage options and restrooms located near departure gates are the ones that will perform better in customer satisfaction in these trying times ," said Jim Gaz, senior director of travel and entertainment at J.D. Power and Associates.
Among large airports Dallas/Fort Worth International came in fourth, with Philadelphia International Airport taking top honors.
DFW Airport Vice President of Public Affairs, Ken Capps, reacted to the ranking by saying, " We congratulate all of this year's winners because we know passenger perception of the entire industry is down right now. DFW is doing the same things we did last year to get the top spot and we've added even more customer services and amenities this year."
The study examined six factors to determine overall customer satisfaction: airport accessibility; baggage claim; check-in/baggage check process; terminal facilities; security check; and food and retail services.
The J.D. Powers survey is based on responses from more than 21,000 passengers who took a round-trip flight between April 2007 and March 2008.
