Country Music Comes To "Rock Band" This July

FORT WORTH (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― Donny and Marie Osmond will finally be able to play video games together this summer, when rock and country collide in "Rock Band: Country Track Pack." According to Paul DeGooyer, senior vice president of electronic games and music for MTV Networks Music Group, the title comes at the request of rock fans who couldn't wait to channel their inner Nashville star.

"We've received a ton of requests from fans to bring more country to the game, and our artist partners responded," said DeGooyer. "We're very excited to be able to offer this set, featuring some of the greatest songs ever recorded."

The "Rock Band" video game franchise gives players the chance to play along with some of the biggest names in music. Gamers must sing, strum along with a guitar controller or bang on a drum kit in time with a selected song. As the title of the game suggests, most of the songs are harder rock tunes from the past five decades.

The track listing for this upcoming country music disc is as follows.

Alan Jackson, Good Time
Brooks & Dunn, Hillbilly Deluxe
Dierks Bentley, Free & Easy (Down the Road I Go)
Dixie Chicks, Sin Wagon
Drive-By Truckers, 3 Dimes Down
Jason Aldean, She's Country
Kenny Chesney, She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy
Kenny Rogers, The Gambler
Lucinda Williams, Can't Let Go
Martina McBride, This One's For the Girls
Rascal Flatts, Me and My Gang
Shania Twain, Any Man of Mine
Steve Earle, Satellite Radio

DeGooyer said, "'Rock Band' loves country music too, and these tracks are among the most fun to play of any we've released to date."

Additional songs will also be included on the disc, but the titles have not yet been announced.

The "Rock Band: Country Track Pack" disc will be released for the Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3, and is set to be in stores on July 21 for a suggested retail price of $29.99.

The songs included on the disc will only be available as a package at first, but many will later be offered individually as downloadable content in older versions of the game.

Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners will be able to transfer the "Country Track Pack" songs from the disc and onto their console hard drive for free, so that they can be played in all modes and previous versions of "Rock Band."
