Fort Worth Fuel Price Highest In State
Gas Prices Set New Record Highs Statewide
HOUSTON (AP) ―
No region of Texas failed to reach record-high retail gasoline price levels this week, according to a weekly survey released Friday.
The AAA Texas survey showed regular self-serve averaged a record-high $3.47 per gallon in the 11 regions surveyed, 13 cents higher than last week. Nationally, the average price rose 14 cents to $3.56 per gallon.
The reason was the stratospheric price of crude oil. Auto club spokeswoman Rose Rougeau notes that this week's statewide average price is about 70 cents higher than at this point last year.
The most expensive gasoline in Texas was found in Fort Worth, where the average climbed 13 cents this week to a record $3.49 per gallon. The state's cheapest gas was in San Antonio, where the price climbed 14 cents this week to $3.41 per gallon.
These are average per-gallon prices of regular, self-serve gasoline in Texas and nationally, as well as the change from last week, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch released Friday:
Amarillo -- $3.476, up 13.4 cents
Austin-San Marcos -- $3.438, up 12.7 cents
Beaumont -- $3.476, up 17.3 cents
Corpus Christi -- $3.446, up 13.4 cents
Dallas -- $3.481, up 12.8 cents
El Paso -- $3.409, up 12.4 cents
Fort Worth -- $3.489, up 13.3 cents
Galveston-Texas City -- $3.461, up 11.7 cents
Houston -- $3.458, up 12.5 cents
San Antonio -- $3.411, up 13.9 cents
Texarkana (Texas only) -- $3.486, up 20.5 cents
State -- $3.466, up 13.3 cents
Nationally -- $3.556, up 13.8 cents
