E-Coupons Help Ring Up Online Shopping Savings

Taking a couple of minutes to play cyber-sleuth can save you money when you shop online.
The secret is coupon codes that you can combine with holiday discounts to save even more money, reports CBS station WBBM-TV in Chicago.
Melissa Labarbera has already started her Christmas shopping online, and she's already found some good deals.
"Between the free shipping and e-coupons I've saved roughly over $150," Labarbera said.
The e-coupons have really helped her rack up those savings. E-coupons are online coupons that you'll find at sites like coolsavings.com. Use the code and you'll get free shipping or a cash discount. Once you find what you want at your favorite store you go to the checkout and enter the code.
"After you enter the code it figures out the payment, then reduces it by the amount of the promo," Labarbera said.
With Cyber Monday right around the corner, experts say this is a perfect time to use e-coupons.
"The advantage of using coupons on cyber Monday is that many of the merchants are already offering significant deals and savings and with online coupons you get an additional bonus, an additional amount off your total purchase," Karen Bennett of coolsavings.com said.
There are literally hundreds of Web sites that offer e-coupons. To find one all you do is enter "coupon codes." Or if you have a particular store in mind, search the store name plus "coupon code" and find all the e-coupons you need.
Labarbera plans to use as many e-coupons as she can.
"The economy is so poor right now you need to watch what you're buying," she said. "By using e-coupons they're really an excellent way of giving you extra discounts."
Cyber Monday is when stores will be offering most of their discounts, but you'll also find great deals on Thanksgiving Day.
Some Web sites also offer coupons online that you can print out and take with you to brick-and-mortar stores.
