Energy Conservation Can Help You Save Money

NORTH TEXAS (CBS 11 News) ― Another hot day across North Texas with near record or record energy consumption is expected this week.

The Public Utility Commission of Texas has issued a yellow alert for energy conservation.

The organization issued the following guidelines to help you save money and energy:

  • Make sure to turn off unnecessary lights and appliances. Try to use major appliances less.
  • Try to block direct sunlight into rooms by closing blinds and drapes.
  • Set your home's temperature to 78 degrees or higher and use fans to help keep cool.
  • When you leave your house, turn the a/c up to 85 degrees and turn off all the fans.
  • Use your pool pump in the morning instead of the afternoon.
  • Go to PowerToChoose.org to find out if you can save money by switching to another electricity provider.
