DPD Recovers Custom Car Stolen From Former Cowboy
IRVING (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
Legendary Dallas Cowboy player Everson Walls said he felt disrespected when he came home to find a prized possession had been stolen.
Walls was known for stealing passes from quarterbacks when he played for the Cowboys. But when he came back from Monday night's game to his mother's house, he found himself the victim of an expensive theft.
"I think it was just a crime of opportunity," he said. "I was upset with the disrespect mainly. That's my neighborhood. That's where I grew up."
He believed if the person who stole his prized silver and blue Mercedes knew who he was, they might have the heart to give it back. The car was his joy for more than 20 years.
"It's the only one like it in the world - convertible top being the unique aspect of it - and I've just always tried to keep it up. I was very disappointed at this point. I don't have it, you don't expect anyone to just disrespect you in the manner," Walls said.
Late Thursday night, police said they found. The radio had been stolen, but overall it was in good shape.
While his play on the field earned him trips to the Pro Bowl and a Super Bowl ring, Walls has been celebrated recently by organ donors for donating a kidney to former teammate Ron Springs.
