Irvin's Notoriety May Have Saved Him

DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― Former Dallas Cowboy and NFL Hall-of-Famer Michael Irvin's notoriety might have saved him from becoming a victim Monday night.

According to a police report obtained by CBS 11, Irvin pulled up at a stop light at the intersection of March and Frankford around 10 p.m. Monday.

Another vehicle pulled up beside him. He told police they rolled down their window and he did the same, thinking they wanted to talk to him.

At that point, a passenger in the other vehicle raised his hand and pointed a semi-automatic pistol at him, according to police.

He was in fear of his safety when one of the suspect's recognized him and called out his name, the report states. That's when the suspects drove away without firing any shots.

Irvin was able to give police a description of the suspects.
