The Dallas Cowboys have placed the running back on injured reserve to have surgery on a torn ligament in his left big toe. This latest injury was sustained during rehabilitation on his left hamstring, which he hurt on October 12.
The hamstring has healed, but Jones told CBS 11 News, "I'm dealing with a lot of issues right now."
No date for a surgery has been determined.
Jones was one of two first-round draft picks for the Dallas Cowboys. He returned to practice with the team on Wednesday to see if playing with the injury was an option. However, based on that practice and the results of an MRI, it was decided that Jones would sit out for the remainder of the season.
CBS 11's Babe Laufenberg first reported the possibility that Felix Jones was facing season-ending surgery Wednesday night on CBS 11 News at 10 p.m.
Over the course of six games, Jones rushed for a total of 266 yards and three touchdowns. He returned 16 kickoffs for roughly 27 yards average, including one 98-yard touchdown.
