New Arena Opens In North Texas

Allen Event Center Kicks Off Celebration With An Open House

ALLEN (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― More than two years and $56.2 million dollars in the making, the Allen Event Center officially opened today.  City leaders held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the center.  An open house followed this morning's celebration until 5 P.M.

The arena is located at the corner of U.S. Highway 75 and Stacy Road inside the Village at Allen shopping district.

The venue includes 26 suites and two ice rinks.  A Central Hockey League, CHL, franchise will play at the arena. 

At capacity, the center will have 8,600 seats. 

Allen leaders envision the center hosting concerts, trade shows, festivals and community events.

The Allen Event Center's first big event is a concert by Reba McEntire.  The country music legend will take the stage Friday at 7:30 P.M.
