Oh, to be a royal gossip columnist in England now that summer's here.
The papers are full of stories of secret vacations and marriage plans, some of which may even be true...one day.
Prince William will pop the question to his former and, it seems, future girlfriend, Kate Middleton, in six months, says one.
Prince Harry and Chelsy Davy have already set a date, but won't go public for another year-and-a-half, says another.
And with the royal's official policy of not commenting on romantic speculation, it's open season, reports CBS News correspondent Mark Phillips.
"Obviously there's intense speculation," said Camilla Tominey, "Royal Editor" at the London Sunday Express. "Both of the princes have been going out with their girlfriends for a considerable amount of time now. Therefore, obviously there's intense interest in where the relationships are going."
In fact, there is some possibly real grist for this ever-grinding mill. Kate Middleton, who was Prince William's acknowledged girlfriend until their official breakup earlier this year, has been seen in his company again, has apparently gone on vacation with him to the Seychelles, and did drop out of the boat race she had been training for, allegedly because the palace thought it was a bad idea.
Prince Harry's long-distance girlfriend, Chelsy, is known to be coming to England from South Africa to go to graduate school.
But he's got more military training ahead of him and there are other reasons why this would not be the time for the romantic earth to move for either of Princess Diana's sons. The upcoming anniversary of her death.
"We have got the 10th anniversary of Di's death coming up imminently on August 31 and all focus is being pointed towards that at the moment," said Tominey. "And I think we do need to take some of these stories with a pinch of salt because, actually, I do think Diana is going to be the woman of the moment for this month anyway."
Their mother had a knack for selling newspapers. Maybe her boys do too.
