The
Texas Can Academy is a non-profit that helps children get a second chance at life and an education. The organization also helps people get cars.
Thursday, the Can Academy got some help instead. It started when the organization's vice president Cheryl Rios received a simple phone call.
"He said, 'Cheryl, I have a gentleman who wants to dedicate four tickets to the Jonas Brothers to help our kids out.' And I was like, 'Are you sure?'"
Rios said she could not believe someone would give up something they could have sold for a lot of money.
"I really didn't think it was true. I know it's a huge sold-out concert, and I thought there's no way. Someone's daughter's gonna kill their father if they donate these tickets," said Rios.
The donation was very real and Texas Can Academy is now auctioning off the tickets on their website.
The donor was Nick Solis. He said he thought about giving the four tickets and the parking pass as a gift, and then he thought about reselling them. But Thursday morning he heard an ad for the Texas Can Academy on the radio while driving to work. Solis decided they needed it more.
"I hope whoever gets the tickets enjoys the concert and ultimately that the money raised goes 100% to provide for the community," said Solis.
Rios said every dollar raised will go to someone in need. The tickets are in the hall of fame section at the new Cowboy's Stadium in Arlington, right next to the cat walk. The auction ends Friday night at 10.
