Fashion Friendly Looks That Fit Right
DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
On the runways, models make looking great look easy. Few of us have that model body, and even fewer have a personal stylist. But fashion expert Tim Gunn says looking great comes down to one thing.
"It's really about fit," Gunn said.
Gunn would know. He is one of the stars of Bravo's Project Runway, and Chief Creative Officer at Liz Claiborne.
"All of us, no matter what our size and shape benefit from having clothes that follow our silhouette, hug our proportions and look clean and polished," said Gunn.
But sometimes finding clothes that fit is the hard part.
"It's hard shopping at the mall. They don't always have your size, or what you think your size is," said Donna Amos.
Donna Amos turned to
Myshape.com to solve her problem. Nadine Herman did the same.
"I said why not try it, if it doesn't work, I'll send it back," said Nadine.
By using your measurements, instead of your dress size, the odds are better that clothes will fit like a glove. The service is free and you can find clothes at discount and designer prices.
Nadine and Donna took detailed measurements of their bodies and entered the information in their profiles on the website.
"My Shape is the only fashion website that provides women with their own personal shop," said Sarah Porubcansky,
My Shape.com.
At the
My Shape headquarters in California, measurements are classified into seven different body types and clothes are chosen to fit each body.
Donna was pleasantly surprised when the clothes arrived at her Yardley home. "It fits perfect. It fits in the length," said Donna.
Nadine had a similar experience. "They all fit perfect, and they're all different sizes," said Nadine.
So what's the return rate? The company will not get specific but says it is much lower than that of other retail shops.
