21 Male Grooming Tips

How to get great hair?  Here's how, according to Head & Shoulders shampoo:

1. Using a conditioner is crucial. Most men bypass this step, but it's just an extra step. Hair becomes so much softer and easier to style after using conditioner.

2. Massage the scalp deeply, but gently prior to shampooing. Massaging stimulates the blood vessels, encouraging a healthy scalp and hair.

3. Strong, clean hair can make all the difference in a man's confidence. Use a Head and Shoulders shampoo and conditioner system, such as Classic Clean, to help get a good foundation for healthy hair by starting at the scalp.

4. Never scrub the scalp; it can cause irritation and damage, affecting scalp and hair health.

5. In between haircuts, be sure to keep a groomed appearance by trimming unwanted hair on the neck and around the sideburns with trimmers and a pair of small round tipped scissors.

How women can help men improve their hair from scalp to style?

6. Ladies- buy the tools to help men get good hair; such as an everyday shampoo and conditioner duo. Also, consider buying a natural wooden brush with wooden pins. Brushing hair often with a natural tool promotes hair and scalp health.

7. Keep this in mind when going shopping for the guys: generally waxes work best with short hair styles, creams for thick, frizzy/ curly hair, gels for harder to hold styles and mousses or spray wax for thin, fly away hair.

8. Girlfriends, mothers, daughters - you can help by buying a variety of hair products so it's easy for the guys to try out at home. Being in the home environment makes men feel more comfortable, which allows them to open up to try new things with their hair.

How to get the right look, with the right product?

9. The natural textured look is in style this year. It's a no fuss style with little to no blow-drying, combing and brushing. Use matte hair wax or pomade. Warm a small amount in the palm, working it through barely dry hair. Pull it through the ends of the hair, combing with your fingers from the back of the crown toward the front.

10. For an edgy look to hair, after adding wax, move small sections of the hair in different directions keeping the primary movement forward.

11. For a side-swept look, again using the fingers as a comb to retain the natural texture of your hair, sweep across the forehead to one side and lightly smooth with a finishing cream.

12. For finer hair, use a spray wax to add texture and lift. Lift sections of hair with the fingers, spray a small amount into the hair, allow to "set" for a minute and then style lightly with the fingers.

How to keep your hair style, even when traveling?

13. With the 3-1-1 rule for carry-ons at airports, passengers are opting to carry fewer items that actually do more for them. Leave the shaving cream at home and instead bring a travel size conditioner. Its not only for your hair but also for your shaving needs. Hair conditioners soften all hair follicles, giving you a smoother shave.

14. Use the same travel size conditioner to smooth fly-aways. Put less than a dime size of conditioner into the palm of your hand and work it through your hair.

How to tame facial hair?

15. As you age, there is more unwanted hair, such as excessive eyebrow hair, nose hair and yes, ear hair! Check in the mirror regularly and trim these away with small, round tipped scissors.

16. A good pair of slant nose tweezers are handy for dealing with errant eyebrows.

17. Treat your beard like its hair on the top of your head. Shampoo, condition and comb it.

18. Trim your beard only when it's dry. Use a moustache comb and the upper lip as a guide when trimming mustaches.

How to get great looking skin?

19. First impressions are important. Having a clean face says a lot. Mild soap can do the trick but a good facial cleanser, a gel cleanser for normal-oily skins or a milky cleanser for normal-dry skins, is vital to keep the moisture in the skin.

20. Use a moisturizer to protect the skin and keep it elastic and tight. Choose a moisturizer based on the following: after washing your face does your face feel tight? If so, a moisturizer for normal-dry skin would be appropriate. If you notice a shine during the day, then choose a moisturizer for normal-oily skin types.

21. Exfoliating prior to shaving will remove dead skin, helping to eliminate bumps. Not only is this important for healthy skin, but exfoliating makes shaving much easier.
