21 Tips For Maximizing Your Fall Fashion Budget
1) You must have a denim jacket. Dark washes with some distress work best.
2) You must have a white basic shirt. Buy a new one each year and donate the old one.
3) You must have dark jeans (wide, straight-leg or boot cut).
4) You must have a fun patterned jacket. Pick one with several color combinations and you can change the look with a simple camisole.
5) You must have a basic solid skirt or pant (chocolate brown, denim khaki, black).
6) Spend money on quality bottoms and have fun with the tops.
7) If something in your closet still has the tags, donate it.
8) Add and pull! When you place an item in your closet, donate what you're replacing.
9) Buy material blends. They launder better and don't need dry cleaning. Always read care instructions.
10) Focus on three fashion colors to coordinate with your wardrobe basics so that you can mix and match easier.
11) Have alterations done to give an updated look to out of style items (suit pants into capris, change buttons on jackets, etc.).
12) Don't get stuck on just one color. Try a color on the opposite side of the color wheel or adjacent to the color you always pick.
13) Only have your current size in your closet.
14) Organize and categorize Once you have determined your foundation colors for your wardrobe, you can organize and categorize your clothing for easy selection and wearing.
15) Look for reversible clothing for its two-outfits-in-one versatility. But you can also use reversible clothing to save money on everyday clothes.
16) One of the biggest money savers is opting for clothing you can wear year-round such as basic all cotton shirts, dressy pants in neutral and polyester and rayon blends that keep their shape and color well.
17) Accessorize a few well-chosen accessories (belts, jewelry, shoes) can adapt many different outfits and can change your look quickly.
18) Solid colors can be economical because different pieces can be interchanged.
19) Keep a box or hamper in your closet designated for charity add stained, last year's styles or wrong sizes to this bin. Once it's full, donate it to your favorite charity.
20) Purge your closet before you shop and write down what you need and what colors you are looking to match. Better yet, take an item to the store and let the sales associate help you match they know the store better than you do.
21) Before you buy an item, make sure you can wear it with at least two different pieces in your current wardrobe. If you can't, don't buy it because wearing it every once in a while will not maximize your budget.
