Woman Gives Birth Outside Parkland Hospital

DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― James Sheehan and others were outside Parkland smoking cigarettes when the stork apparently dropped in.

A woman on her way inside the hospital went into labor right near these bushes before she could make it into the nearby emergency room.

"She had the baby bam-bam-bam," witness Tiffany Bennett said. "I didn't even finish smoking my cigarette and she had the baby."

Hospital staffers could not comment about the incident because of privacy laws, but people who were outside like Sheehan and Bennett said it was quite a surprise.

"There was some screaming," recalls one witness. "There was a man who ran up who said she was having a baby."

Others ran inside to tell medical staffers about the emergency delivery outside the hospital.

Doctors and nurses rushed the woman and her newborn inside.

No word yet if the woman had a boy or girl.
