Cathy Lang is a an industry leading fitness veteran. For more than a decade, she has helped women customize their workout for their gear.

Lang has worked as an NFL and NBA trainer and now as a spokesperson for Lady Foot Locker, she offers these tricks to help women maximize their time and dollars when hunting for back to school items that  offer trendy fashions combining sport and style.

Here are some interesting Facts about sneakers:

- On Jan. 24, 1899 , Humphrey O'Sullivan received the first patent for a rubber heel for shoes

-The state of California now requires many students to meet certain physical fitness criteria

Tips:

Fashion Rules !-Make the fashion, not the fitness the focal point. Outfitting your student in stylish gear will not only increase their chances of being awarded "Best Dressed," but will make them more likely to participate in the activity that corresponds to that outfit.

Play to your child's strengths .  So what if your kid doesn't run to the paper to read the box score?  Offer your tech-savvy student a challenge that is fun for them by incorporating gadgets and technology into their wardrobe.

Specialist or Multi-tasker ? Is your student athlete a modern Bo Jackson, Deion Sanders or Michael Jordan playing a variety of sports or are they dedicated to one sport in particular?

-Always consider the activity for which she will use her new shoes.
