Entertainment centers like Main Event in Fort Worth are bowling over cash strapped families with specials.

This Memorial Day, all-day package includes access to bowling, billiards, laser tag and games for $20. The facility at 4801 Citylake Blvd. off Interstate 20 and Bryant Irvin Road also offers  simulators among its video and interactive games.

One Aledo family enjoying the fun on Saturday said they changed their San Antonio travel plans to stay closer to home.

With demand for cool on cheap on the rise snow cone sales this weekend are piling up.

"With gasoline so high people are just not traveling … and that helps us," says  Judith Clark, a Sno Wonder Owner.

Sno cone prices haven't changed in more than a decade, which tallies up to good news for people chilled by high gas prices.

"It's unbelievable," Charlene Burns says.  It's a cheap way to keep cool and it tastes really good and it's low fat."

For Jemerius Boyd, the heat just strengthens the desire for a quick dip in the pool.

Many cities offer free or admission less than $5 to public pools and that helps parents like Murial Williams not drown the budget.

"When you have more kids it's a way you can accommodate everybody."
