Breast Cancer Survivor, Author To Speak At Lunch

Geralyn Lucas Wrote "Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy"

DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― Geralyn Lucas, author of "Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy," will be the featured speaker at this year's Baylor Health Care System Foundation's ninth annual Celebrating Women luncheon.

The luncheon will honor local breast cancer survivors and those who have made a significant impact in the Dallas/Fort Worth community.

Lucas was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 27 while working as a producer for ABC News' 20/20.

Her book chronicles her battle with the disease. The book was later turned into an Emmy-nominated Lifetime Original Movie.

Lucas currently works at Lifetime Television, where she now serves as director of corporate communications. She is responsible for the network's initiative called Stop Breast Cancer for Life.

CBS 11's Karen Borta will be among those in the media honored at the luncheon for their contributions to promoting breast cancer research, treatment, technology and community outreach.
