Designer Philip Combs
1. Choose flowers that show your personality. If you're fun and outgoing, don't show a stuffy little wad of flowers.
2. Your flower arrangements should always be fun and something unexpected. However, the flowers should go with the theme of the wedding.
3. Pink, green, black and white and chocolate brown are popular colors for flowers this year.
4. Chocolate brown is a great accent color. It works with almost anything.
5. The girly bride should always go for pink flowers. It adds a soft touch, a romantic flair.
6. Consider putting a little detail on the stem of your bouquet. Pearls are decorative and make the bouquet easier to hold.
7. For the modern bride, green roses, hydrangeas and orchids are popular for weddings.
8. For the bride that's a little bold, consider putting crystals in the flower arrangements. The bride's ring doesn't have to be the only bring around.
9. Here's a trick: Open your roses and spread them out. It will fill space and save you money.
10. If you're having an outdoor wedding, do things in focal points. Don't scatter decorations around.
11. Please consider the time of day, the weather and the season when choosing flowers for a wedding.
12. Seasonal wildflowers, roses and orchids hold up well in the Texas heat.
13. If the bride wants flowers in her hair, orchids are a great choice. Orchids have stamina and can make it perfectly through an event.
14. Lavender and orchids are your best bets for boutonnieres. Roses don't always hold up through an event.
15. If you're having a beach wedding, incorporate your environment into your wedding. Use sea shells in flower arrangements to tie in your theme.
16. Before choosing any flowers, it is wise to establish a color scheme and determine a budget. This way you don't spend more than you want.
17. Research! There are all kinds of sources available to explain flowers.
18. Shop around! You can determine what you like and don't like so your designer doesn't make any mistakes.
19. Many brides like to save flowers from their wedding. Hydrangeas are great for saving. Use a shadow box or pressed book.
20. Trust your designer. They're going to know what is in season and what's available.
21. The most important rule: If you've seen it done before then that's not right for you. Be unique and true to yourself.
