Women Attack Belly Fat In Three Different Ways
FORT WORTH (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
For Lisa Bosshard, weight loss surgery was step one on the road to reducing belly fat.
"At my highest weight, I was around 320 pounds and around a size 32 in women's clothing," she said.
Aimee Sorley went from a size 12, down to a 4-6, in roughly six months. Exercising with trainer Scott Colby was a key for her. She says finding out the truth about some of those supposed healthy snacks and meals you can grab and go also helped.
"Unfortunately, a lot of these boxed foods that are convenience or bagged foods have trans or saturated fat," said Colby. "If we continue to consume too much of these, unfortunately it gets stored in the waist area."
The same happened to Yvette Elkins. Her battle against belly fat has led her to a whole new perspective on eating. She began eating smaller portions and more foods with good/filling fiber. After dropping her first fifteen pounds, there was great news from her doctor.
"As of today, I am off my blood pressure medication," said Elkins.
Elkins sought the help of Ashley Mullins, a registered dietician in fort worth, who also advised that often one of the easiest ways to pick up calories, is through something you don't eat.
"A typical Margarita can offer over 700 calories," said Mullins. "If you get a five ounce glass of wine, you can do that for 100."
In the end, it's not rocket science. Caloric intake must be reduced. But the toughest challenge is committing to the changes.
