Get A 'Six-Pack' Look Without Doing Sit Ups

DALLAS (CBS 11 News) ― Not a gym person? You can still get that sculpted six-pack look without a single sit up. But, getting that super-sculptured look isn't cheap and in this case will involve some surgery.

Some doctors say super toned abs, a flat belly, and muscle definition can be achieved through high-definition.

Joanna Ortiz, 31, tried dieting and working out, but couldn't get the look she wanted.  "The main part I was concerned about was around the bellybutton area and then the sides, the love handles," she explained.

Wanting specific spot reduction, Joanna turned to Dr. Erik Smith for a new kind of liposuction called high definition lipo-sculpture.

"Patients are now able to have a more defined look," Dr. Smith said of the procedure. "They're able to have an athletic look. They're able to be transformed into a gym body."

Unlike with traditional liposuction, where large areas of fat are removed, the hi-def procedure targets specific small pockets of fat and removes them.  Dr. Smith says, "The trick to definition is not the fat you remove, it's what you leave behind."

The fat left behind is sculpted to look like toned muscle.

Pictures showed Joanna six days after the surgery.  She was still a little swollen and bruised, but already saw the early signs of the sculpted look she wanted.  "I just want more like an hourglass shape for my clothes to fit well and not have the little bulge on the side."

While Joanna wasn't aiming to lose weight it was a pleasant side effect.  She now needs smaller pants to fit her new sculpted waist.  "I feel great and look at all the space I have now," she said pointing to the excess room in her clothes.

High definition lipo-sculpture is designed for people who are not overweight.  The surgery can take hours and costs between $10,000 and $15,000.
