'Pouty Lips' Increasingly Popular
15-Minute Procedure Lasts For Years

A Hollywood novelty is catching on with people outside the entertainment industry. It's called "pouty lips," and a Texas doctor has come up with a procedure that creates pouty lips in just minutes.
Big. Bold. "Bee-stung." By any description pouty lips are what the stars want. So did Sophy Merszei. "I noticed my mother's lip falling lower and lower each year, and I realized I had the same lips as my mother. I wanted to pick it up before it fell any lower," she said.
A search of the Internet led her to Houston Doctor Eser Yuksel. The plastic surgeon has devised a lip lift that leaves no scars. It's done in the doctor's office with local anesthetic.
Dr. Yuksel inserts a suture through the inside of the nose to the underside of the upper lip. "The suture is placed in a loop fashion inside the lip to pull the muscle unit up," said Dr. Yuksel.
For an even fuller look, fat cells can be harvested from the patient and injected into the lip as part of the procedure. Dr. Yuksel said injecting collagen or Restalyn into the lip is a temporary fix that can cause other problems. "Adding more volume will make a lip longer than it is because its facing gravity."
Sophy Merszei understands. "It's the kind of thing you can do to really freshen your appearance but no one would have any idea what you've done," she said.
The results of a 15 minute procedure should last for years.
We are told the procedure costs about $2,400.
