FW Congresswoman Hospitalized For Dehydration

U.S. Rep. Kay Granger is in a Washington-area hospital for treatment of dehydration. Granger spokesman Steve Dutton says the Fort Worth Republican was admitted Wednesday night, but is fine and will be released Friday. He said Thursday that she plans to attend several events this weekend.

A&M Regents Pick Interim Replacement For Murano

Texas A&M University System regents have accepted Elsa Murano's resignation and named the CEO of their Galveston campus as interim president of the flagship university. Bowen Loftin's appointment was announced Monday after the board of regents met in executive session. Loftin has been vice president and CEO at Texas A&M University at Galveston since 2005. His tenure included a tragic 2008, when Hurricane Ike struck Galveston a few months after a school sailboat accident killed one man. The 49-year-old Murano resigned Sunday, less than two weeks after a scathing performance review that included low marks for leadership and management. She was the first Hispanic and first female president in the 132-year history of Texas A&M, which didn't admit women on an equal basis until 1971.

Southwest Sells Aircraft, Modifies Fuel Hedges

Southwest Airlines is selling five aircraft for $175 million and has agreed to lease the planes back from the buyer for 12 years. The Dallas-based airline also modified its fuel hedge portfolio to limit its exposure from falling oil prices.
