Don Hill, Others Want Corruption Trials Delayed

DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― Defendants in the Dallas City Hall bribery and extortion scandal want their trial delayed.

Former Mayor pro-tem Don Hill, his wife Sheila Farrington, former plan commissioner D'Angelo Lee, and developer Brian Potashnik are among those asking to push their trial back from next month until June 22.

Prosecutors haven't responded in court yet to the request.

Kathy Colvin, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney's office in Dallas, says prosecutors are proceeding as if the trial will begin next month.

Last year, the U.S. Attorney's office filed numerous charges, including bribery, extortion, and in some cases tax evasion, against 14 people related to low income housing being built in the city of Dallas.

CBS 11 News has covered the investigation into Dallas City Hall since we broke the story in the summer of 2005.  Click here for our archive of stories.
