More Documents Show DFW CEO's First Class Travel

DALLAS (CBS 11 News) ― In a series of recent investigative reports (parts 1, 2, 3, 4), CBS 11 reported that the CEO of DFW International Airport, Jeff Fegan, and other airport executives have flown first class domestically, which may appear to violate the DFW Airport travel policy.

The airport has responded to that assertion by stating that DFW Airport  "purchased coach fares." But in its response, DFW does not deny that some executives traveled first class domestically. It's important to note that the airfares on the itineraries provided by DFW are much more expensive than a normally discounted coach fare.

For example (hypothetically):
DFW-New York ($349) – Discounted Coach
DFW-New York ($2133) – Coach (instantly upgradable to First Class)
DFW-New York ($2941) – First Class

We've also posted additional itineraries for CEO Jeff Fegan, for trips to Arkansas, Austin, Baltimore, Washington, D.C. and two trips to New York City.

The airport is relying on a spreadsheet it produced in anticipation of our story. CBS 11 is relying on the business record the airport originally supplied to us showing the precise class of service, which in this case is first class. The fact that the coach fares were so expensive may have allowed executives to automatically upgrade. The airport failed to produce any upgrade receipts for any of Mr. Fegan's travel to determine how the upgrade was obtained.

According to DFW's most recent "Comprehensive Annual Financial Report" (http://www.dfwairport.com/about/pdf/financial/annual/comp-ar2007.pdf) the airport receives "federal, state and local assistance" (see page 9 of the document).

The next DFW Airport Board Meeting takes place on Thursday, October 2, and the issue of the travel policy is on the agenda.
