CBS 11 News Helps You Find Fabulous Freebies

Movies, meals, fitness and furniture are just some of the things you can get for free, if you know where to find it.
Kristy Clarke is like a lot of moms. She has little time to cook and says she likes to save. "It just helps if you can find a couple nights a week where the kids eat free," she said. So CBS 11 News pointed her to kidsmealdeals.com. It's a website where you can enter your zip code and search for nights of the week where kids can eat free at local restaurants.
Clarke already knew about one such restaurant. "Tuesday nights you can eat free at Black-eyed Pea, kids eat free on Tuesday nights," she declared.
If you choose to stay home, you can get free cooking lessons, recipes or create a virtual recipe box at allrecipes.com or epicurious.com.
Upromise.com is a rewards system that can help you pay for college. A percentage of what you and your friends and family spend everyday at participating stores, gas stations, restaurants and more goes into an college savings account. All you have to do is sign up. It's a huge help for Rod Niekle. "Stereotypical college students are the people with the least money in society so, we're always asking for hand outs and somebody's finally giving us some," the college student explained.
The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has free basic language courses online. You can take beginner lessons by simply submitting your email address.
At homeexchange.com we found a Dallas family wanting to temporarily trade homes with someone in South Africa or Park Cities, Utah. And if you're tired of paying for directory assistance, don't dial 411 again until you first try 1-800-FREE-411. You may have to listen to a 12-second advertisement, but you can get connected for free.
James Hairston does not like to pay for ATM surcharges. "If there is something that is not going to charge you fees than why do it? So CBS 11 showed him a website called allpointnetwork.com that lists 670 ATM's in his zip code where he doesn't have to pay a fee.
If you look closely on craigslist.com, you'll find free furniture. In Dallas, CBS 11 found a company offering a "bunch of office furniture" that it had tried to donate. In Denton, a couch and loveseat were available for free. And in Duncanville, someone was trying to give away a desk.
