Federal Indictments Imminent At Dallas City Hall

by Jack Fink
DALLAS (CBS 11 News) ― CBS 11 News has learned indictments are imminent in the corruption probe hanging over Dallas City Hall for more than two years now.

One source tells CBS 11 News that indictments could be handed up within 72 hours.

Another source said charges would be coming in the next week or so.

"I've been hearing rumors the indictments will be coming down pretty soon," said former Councilman James Fantroy, who is also being investigated.

Fantroy says he recently received a target letter from federal prosecutors.

An attorney for former Plan Commissioner D'Angelo Lee says his client also got the letter.

"If you are a defendant, you should assume it means an indictment is imminent," said former U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Texas Matt Orwig.

It's all part of an investigation centered on affordable housing.

Former Mayor Pro-Tem Don Hill is also being investigated. So is his former political consultant Sheila Farrington, whom he has since married.

Brian Potshnik, an affordable housing developer, and his company, Southwest Housing, are also under investigation.

CBS 11 found State Representative Terri Hodge of Dallas accepted $33,000 worth of unreported rent money and utilities from Potashnik.

As for Fantroy, he says he is not worried. "I'm asking the community to understand that I am going to fight it," he said.

No one else involved in the investigation would comment on it.
