A South Dallas family is devastated after learning their loved one was killed for what they say was about $50.
Michael Kimble was murdered Saturday afternoon. According to police, the killer brutally beat and repeatedly stabbed the 55-year-old before physically dragging his body and dumping it near a building on Forest Avenue.
"I think he was a coward to do something like that," said the victim's older brother, Don Kimble.
The loss has been especially hard for Kimble's mother, Willie Madkins. She bore 15 children and always thought she would die before any of them.
"You just couldn't imagine," Madkins said. "We never would have thought things would turn out like they did."
Family members tell CBS 11 News that Kimble had gotten into a fight with a co-worker who kept demanding to get paid for a construction job. According to them, the amount being demanded was no more than $50, and that is the reason the co-worker killed Kimble.
Kimble's younger sister, Charlotte Hill, struggles with the absurdity of it all. "It's one thing to die in peace, but to actually take your life," she says. "We haven't even begun to grasp it yet."
Monday afternoon Dallas police detectives interviewed Kimble's family again. They were interested in learning more about the co-worker they claim is responsible for the murder.
