FWPD: Elderly Woman Attacked By Two Women
by Joel Thomas
FORT WORTH (CBS 11 News) ―
When 63-year-old Rosie McKellar saw the lights in her son's car come on early Saturday morning, she went outside to investigate.
The car was in front of her home on Donnelly Avenue and Horne in Fort Worth.
She told police she found a woman wearing a black bra in the front seat pretending to be asleep. Police now say the woman had broken into the car in an attempt to steal it.
When McKeller came closer to the car, she said the woman "jumped up and ran, yelling, 'This is my mama's house! This is my mama's house!'"
The woman in the car and a second woman charged McKeller as she stood in her doorway calling police.
McKeller said the woman then "went all the way through the door and into the house."
Less than two minutes later, seven police arrived at the house.
"They were looking for the two because they'd already tried the same trick on a car in front of the grocery store a block and a half away," said McKeller about the police's timely response. "The owner of the store had already been on the phone with police, and officers were already in the neighborhood."
Workers at the clothing store next door say they don't like staying open late. They say the neighborhood is growing dangerous at night.
