Dallas Man Severely Burned In Abandoned Home Fire

DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― A man was severely burned over 50 percent of his body during an abandoned house fire.

The incident took place just before 2:00 a.m. Monday morning at a home on Frank Street in south Dallas.

The victim suffered third degree burns all over his body.

According to family members, the man was sitting on the front porch of the home at the time of the fire. Officials believe that is where the blaze first started.

Nobody lives in the home, but the man has been known to frequently hang out on the porch.

Fire crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire. No cause has been determined.

The victim was treated at the scene before being taken to Parkland Hospital. He was reportedly conscious when fire crews arrived.

Authorities are at the hospital speaking to the man, trying to find out what exactly happened.
