Vigil Held For Girls Allegedly Set On Fire By Mom

by Katherine Blake
HALTOM CITY (CBS 11 News) ― More than 50 people filled the front yard of a Haltom City home were tragedy struck two days before.

Three young girls were set on fire with gasoline allegedly by their own mother Saturday morning.

The girls' father remained at the hospital with his daughters. He asked his sister to read a statement for him.

"Thank you guys, to the neighbors who helped, we can't thank you enough," said April Green, the girls' aunt.

April wants the world to know her three nieces are still alive. They're holding on, but the family is urging everyone to continue praying for them.

"Lord, I know they are in your hands because they are innocent," said a pastor at the gathering.

Those who attended the candle light vigil say it is of great comfort.

"It makes me feel really good," said Nicholas Ponce. He said he wishes he could visit his friends in the hospital. "I hope they can get well."

As of Monday night, 3-year-old Arianna remained on life support. Her 5-year-old sister Alexandria is in a medically induced coma.

"But the 7-year-old is doing really good," said April. "She's bossing the nurses around."

Family members are doing all they can to help uplift the girls' spirits.

"We're talking about going swimming and going camping," said April.

They are also rallying around the girls' father, Adam Green, on the darkest days of his life.

"He's a really good dad. He's great to his girl – always there for them," said April.

Witnesses say when Adamiria was pulled from the burning house, she screamed, "Why mommy? Why mommy? Why did you do this to me?"

Answers may be found in court documents that state Alysha Green had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and had stopped taking her medicine.

Court documents also claim that Alysha had threatened to kill her husband in the past by setting him on fire.

She is under arrest in Parkland Hospital in Dallas. She had been accused of three counts of suspicion of injury to a child.
