Arlington Family Terrorized During Home Invasion
ARLINGTON (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
A North Texas family was terrorized in broad daylight, in their own home. Police say two teenagers stormed in and tied the family up, while they ransacked the house.
Three members of one family were home on Lemon Drive in southeast Arlington when the robbers smashed their way inside.
Police say around 1 p.m. the teens broke in through the back door. Once inside the boys, who wore bandannas over their heads and faces, shouted orders to the homeowner, his wife and 21-year-old son, Doug Chesney.
Chesney says he was in his bedroom, on the computer, when he heard a crashing sound. "I came out and saw these masked men screaming at my parents to get on the ground."
After tying the family up with duct tape the teens, who were armed with shotguns, threatened to kill the family if they didn't hand over a safe. "They started screaming 'Where's the safe? Where's the safe?" Chesney said. "We were pleading, 'We don't have a safe'."
Arlington police are looking for two teens, one Hispanic and one White. The boys are believed to be in their late teens or early 20s.
"After a while they went and dragged me by my feet out into the living room ya know, waving their shotguns around in front of us," Chesney explained. "I thought ya know, I was ready to die. I didn't know what to do. It was terrifying."
The two armed teens ran from the home with a sack of jewelry and the victim's wallets. No one inside the house was hurt.
Anyone with any information about the crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers or Arlington police.
