2 Men Detained For Dallas Armored Car Robbery

DALLAS (CBS 11 News) ― According to a Texas Sheriff's Officer dispatcher, two men in Culberson County have been detained for questioning by Dallas FBI agents in connection with the robbery of a armored car in Dallas on Sept. 5.

Officials with the FBI and the Dallas Police Department reported that over $1 million was stolen in a robbery, which took place in the 1800 block of Abrams Road.

According to police, a Loomis Armored Car had stopped in front of a Compass Bank. Two guards began a scheduled money transfer when two masked suspects drove up in a blue van. The suspects demanded money from the guards after brandishing semi-automatic weapons.

A short time later, the empty blue van was located at the Lakewood Public Library in the 6100 block of Worth Street. It had been reported stolen about two weeks earlier.

No injuries were reported.

The two men are now being held for questioning in Van Horn, located about 2 hours east of El Paso. This is where the Dallas investigation is now being conducted.

One of the two men, 53-year-old Freddy Lee Foots of Dallas, has officially been arrested and charged with aggravated robbery.
