Benbrook Police Arrest 2 For Funeral Burglaries
BENBROOK (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
A pair of burglars were allegedly preying on families attending funerals. However, those two are now in jail after an arrest that led police to thousands of dollars in stolen property.
Detectives with the Benbrook Police Department cracked the case.
According to police, 30-year-old Racquel Gauger and 37-year-old David Jackson are responsible for a series of burglaries in the Benbrook area, all of which took place while the victims mourned loved ones at funerals.
Last week, detectives seized thousands of dollars worth of jewelry and electronics from a house in north Fort Worth. According to police, this house is where Gauger kept the stolen items before pawning them off for cash.
Rosemary Taylor is one of the victims. Her house was broken into back in October, the day that she was attending her husband's funeral.
Thousands of dollars worth of jewelry was taken from Taylor that day. "For somebody to come into a home at that time and take that is incredible," she said. "I can't believe this could happen in Benbrook."
Unfortunately, detectives believe that Benbrook was not the only target, and that there could be victims all over Tarrant County.
Police are still investigating the case, and anticipate more arrests.
