Small Helicopter Crashes In Cedar Hill

CEDAR HILL (CBS 11 News/AP) ―

A two-seat helicopter has crashed in Cedar Hill.

Live video from Chopper 11 showed the helicopter on its side, with the mangled wreckage coming to rest along a curb, by a fire hydrant.

According to detectives at the scene, the pilot says he didn't realize the winds had shifted and he couldn't get enough lift.

Investigators say the pilot originally told them that he was the only person in the helicopter when it went down.  But he later changed his story and admitted to detectives that he did have a passenger onboard.

Cedar Hill police say the man's pilot's license doesn't permit him to fly with anyone else in the aircraft.

No injuries were immediately reported.

The cause of the crash is sought.  The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.

Cedar Hill is about 15 miles southwest of Dallas.
