Celebs Invest In "Vacation In A Bottle"

DALLAS (CBS 11 News) ― You may have seen Jessica Simpson or some of the Dallas Cowboys drinking the latest drink to hit the market. It's called VIB, Vacation in a Bottle.

It's a lightly carbonated pomegranate drink that's touted as a wave of relaxation.

"It just calms you down and takes the edge off," said VIB distributor Blake Andrew.

The company says VIB also makes you feel happy and lively.

"It'll still keep you in a state of mind where you're going to be able to execute your office duties," said Bobby Carpenter, Cowboys linebacker.

Several Dallas Cowboys have invested in VIB, which is made in Dallas.

They say VIB's effects are created with ingredients like antioxidants and vitamins B12, B6 and B3.

"It's unlike any other energy drinks," said Carpenter.

That's because of what's not in the can. VIB doesn't contain any caffeine or alcohol.

Although, the company's Web site does claim it can decrease the effects of a hangover.

"I don't think there's anything necessarily that can decrease the effects of a hangover," said Melinda Safir, a licensed dietician at Presbyterian Hospital Dallas.

She said consumers should not be looking for a magic bullet to make them feel better.

"A healthy balanced diet with adequate rest is going to give you that same benefit as having any kind of supplement or any kind of quick fix in any kind of bottle or pill," she said.

Safir said she is more concerned with the 15 grams of sugar and 60 calories in each can of VIB.

"It's still a product that has calories. It's still a product that has sugar. It's definitely going to contribute to extra weight."

But that didn't seem to bother people trying VIB for the first time in West Village.

"I think it's a good idea. Kind of goes along with when you drink Corona you think of being on a beach in Mexico," said consumer Eric Lundgren.
